Suddenly a Mandy Moore musical number.

Remember when Mandy Moore got a record contract at 14 and was positioned to compete with Britney and Christina and Jessica Simpson for America’s Pop Sweetheart? And remember how as she got older she tried new things humbly like acting in small roles or big roles in low budget movies or doing MTV hosting gigs or writing her own music to varying degrees? And remember how she sang decent pop songs and never went on crash diets or sold her sexuality beyond “Hey! Maybe I like sex. Or not. The way sane women do. Right? Whatever. I’ll show my stomach if I feel like it today. If not, then not?”  And remember how she wasn’t always a twig, but a normal thin and magazines gave her shit and she was like, “Whatever. I like making pasta.” And then she voiced Rapunzel. And then she married Ryan Adams—and they’re still married. And she still makes music and acts in occasional movies (some good, some bad, some wonderfully bad). And generally, she doesn’t put her personal life in the tabloids?
What I’m saying is I’m a Mandy Moore fan and given the fact that she put out a pop album at 14, I think she made the sanest, smartest, most—dare I say?—normal choices she could in life considering.
Also, I LOVE her contribution to the Center Stage soundtrack.

And this is why I love Meghan!
